Data Sources
All live storm data on this site is sourced exclusively from:
- NOAA Storm Prediction Center (SPC) — `https://www.spc.noaa.gov`
- National Weather Service (NWS) API — `https://api.weather.gov`
- NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) — historical storm events database
We do not use third-party aggregators, paid data services, or community-sourced storm reports for our live feeds. Our state guides and educational articles cite NCEI, NWS, and peer-reviewed meteorological research.
Accuracy and Caveats
All SPC storm reports are preliminary. The SPC publishes storm reports throughout the convective day based on spotter reports, official surveys, and radar data. These reports may later be revised by local NWS forecast offices, particularly tornado EF ratings, which require ground surveys to finalize.
We do not adjust, interpret, or modify SPC or NWS data. The hail sizes displayed are the raw values reported by the SPC (converted from the SPC’s hundredths-of-inches format to a readable decimal). We do not add or remove reports.

Corrections Policy
If you believe any content on this site contains an error:
1. Email us at contact@findthetornado.com with the subject line “Correction Request.”
2. Include the URL of the page, the specific claim you believe is incorrect, and the source of the correct information.
3. We will review correction requests within 5 business days. If a factual correction is warranted, we will update the content and note the correction at the bottom of the page with the correction date.
We do not remove factual content for editorial or commercial reasons.
